Overview

Combining a visit to the heritage sites in Kathmandu and the bustling market areas of the city, with a trip to the scenic, lake town of Pokhara is a perfect way to spend a few days if you have limited time, want to add something to the end of your trek, or just like someone to take care of the details package for you.

We start by exploring the ancient architecture of Kathmandu in the Durbar (Palace) Squares of the ancient towns of  Kathmandu and Patan. The temples, stone and wood carvings are outstanding and stretch back many centuries.  We will also take you to the living heritage sites of Swayambunath, and Boudhanath (both Buddhist stupas) and to the Hindu site of Pashupathinath, site of the holiest Hindu temple and burning ghats.  In the evening enjoy a typical Nepali dinner with a culture show.

Next day drive or fly to Pokhara.  By road the journey is long (7 to 8 hours) but scenic and interesting.  Once in Pokhara breath in the fresh air coming directly from the Annapurnas.  Marvel at Machhapuchhre, or Fishtail, as it is known, which simply towers over Fewa Lake.  You will be staying near the lake in Lakeside so the view of Fishtail is constantly within your gaze.  There are a number of places to visit within Pokhara depending on your availability.  On a short trip, we will take you boating, stopping at Tal Barahi Temple in the middle of the lake, then across the lake to the Peace Stupa.  Take a short hike up the hill and then watch the sunset from the Peace Stupa over the lake below.  Next morning we will take you to watch the sunrise from Sarangkot viewpoint before we drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
