Overview

Although there are several national parks in Nepal, Chitwan is by far the most famous. And also the easiest to reach from Kathmandu and Pokhara. A 5-hour drive or a 30-minute flight (and a short drive) will bring you to the jungle of the lowlands (Terai) of the country. You can even raft down to near the park. See our rafting section for details. Most people stay two night / three days in Chitwan, but you can certainly stay longer! There is enough to do to keep you active. You might even want to relax for a few days after the rest of your Nepal adventure. You can canoe, jeep safari, walk in the park, do bird watching, watch elephants bathe, visit indigenous villages, watch Tharu dances, and relax on the banks of the Rapti River in the sun, or around a campfire at night. All in a lovely jungle setting! After your visit to Chitwan, head on over to Pokhara by tourist bus, where we can arrange sightseeing for you. Although Pokhara is known as the starting point for trekking in the Annapurnas, it is also famous as a delightful lake town, perfect for relaxing in. We can arrange to take you to several interesting points, including David Falls, Gupteswor Cave, The Mountaineering Museum, Mahendra Cave, Bat Cave, and the Peace Stupa. And let’s not forget boating on the lake! We can arrange to drive (or trek) you up to Sarangkot in the early morning to watch the sunrise over the Annapurnas. And if you would like to stay overnight there, just let us know! We would recommend three nights in Pokhara (two nights if you are flying rather than going by road). But of course, there is, as we mentioned, enough to keep you occupied for days! And remember there is trekking, paragliding, ziplining and bungee jumping to enjoy while you are there.
