Overview
Starting and ending in Pokhara, this trip is amazingly scenic and is great for both beginners and those who have rafted before. There are safety kayaks for your peace of mind and safety. Although mostly Grade III rapids, there are some of Grade IV. We should add that the Kali Gandaki is a holy river, starting way up on the Tibetan Plateau.
Itinerary
Day 01: Drive from Pokhara for around 3 hours, with amazing views of the Annapurna Range, on the way to Beni, where we eat lunch. After we get on the river, the first thing we come across is large Grade IV rapids, aptly called “Small Brother” and “Big Brother”. Tonight we camp near Modi Khola and enjoy dinner around the campfire.
Day 02: Today we can see Annapurna I and Himchuli as we run the Grade III rapids. The one called “Refund” is a Grade IV – hold on tight! The scenery along the banks is amazing – lush vegetation, cliff faces, perhaps some wildlife. Tonight we camp near the village of Purti Ghat.
Day 03: Today we reach the village of Seti Beni, considered a holy village, before passing through large boulders to the ending point, from where we drive back to Pokhara.
