Normally, USD 650 is a relatively affordable price to visit Lhasa, Tibet, during the main tourist season; the same trip can cost USD 1500, which is the more expensive version. If you are part of a group of at least two, you qualify for the group price. However, if you are single, the price may be a little higher.
If you are making Nepal an entry point, there are additional expenses you should be aware of. This includes flight tickets, visa fees, and other costs; here are details for visa fees and flight fares.

Many tourists visiting Tibet first arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal, and then travel to Lhasa, Tibet. All because of the opportunity to see the highest mountain in the world. It is flying over more than half of the airspace of the Himalayas. However, Nepal is not only the route to get into Tibet. Other countries have flights that transit through Tibet. You need to fly to China and then take a train or flight to Tibet.
Accommodation
The accommodation facility is limited in Tibet. For people on any budget, Tibet has a place to stay. Compared to other cities, Lhasa has good accommodation with modern facilities and services for its customers. Facilities, including Wi-Fi, air conditioning, hot water, and so forth, are available. You can find a single room or twins in Lhasa. You need to pay USD 8-12 for a twin room without an attached bathroom in Shigatse / Lhasa. If you opt for an expensive hotel, you’ll have to pay USD 30-60 for rooms that include a bathroom and toilet.
Food
Part of the package includes breakfast only. You can enjoy local and Western food, all with a mouth-watering taste, in Tibet. While visiting Tibet, don’t forget to try some of the most common local foods: Tsampa, Lhaping, MOMO, and so forth.
Other Expenses
Meal (breakfast), ground transportation, a local guide, entrance fee to the attraction, and accommodation are part of the package that you should arrange in advance. However, expenses such as lunch, dinner, personal expenses, tips, and donations should be considered extra. Tibet is also an excellent place for shopping. It has many artistic souvenirs that your friends and family will love to have. Thanka painting, a singing bowl, a statue of Buddha, a colorful Buddhist door curtain, and a praying flag might be the best souvenirs from Tibet.
Best Time
Tibet is located in East Asia on the Tibetan Plateau, the world’s highest plateau. The climate in Tibet is dry and global with strong winds, fluctuation in summer daytime temperature, and low humidity. The average rainfall in Tibet is 12 inches, and it often rains during the monsoon.
The best time to travel to Tibet is from early April to mid-June and from mid-September to the end of November. The climate is dry and clear with good mountain views at this time of year. Also, you can visit Tibet in December to mid-February if you are prepared for the cold.
It is advised not to travel in March as Tibet is closed during this month.
What Should You Know Before Visiting Tibet?

- Each year, during March, Tibet is closed to its travelers. The date may vary between February and early April.
