Overview
Same same but different is the phrase Canyoning and Rock Climbing in Nepal that comes to mind here. Most people will know about rock climbing in Nepal, although hard-core climbers will know there are many different types, and now there is even ice climbing in Nepal (outside of mountaineering that is). But what is canyoning?
Canyoning
This can be described as to abseil, jump or slide down steep canyon walls and waterfalls into the water below. There are several different places that this can be done, but one of the best is at the Last Resort, near the Tibetan border, about 3 hours drive from Kathmandu. Here they will give you full instructions, safety tips and ensure your trip is as safe and ‘wet and wild’ as it can be! Ask us about this trip, and we can arrange it for you.
Rock Climbing
This can be done in a variety of locations, either on a climbing wall in Thamel (great for both beginners or those who want to improve their skills before setting out into the wilderness) or in many locations around the country. Closer to Kathmandu, Nagarjun, Sundarijal, and Hattiban offer great rock climbing experiences without having to go too far. For those who have more experience and want to combine rock climbing with a trek, why not check out our Peak Climbing section.
