Everest Three Pass Trek

This is the definitive trek in Everest Region of Nepal for those very fit adventure seekers! Crossing three high passes - Renjo La Pass (5,465m), Cho La Pass (5,420m) and Khongma La Pass (5,535m), with some long walking days of up to 9 hours, a high level of fitness is needed. And if that is not enough, climb up Kala Patthar for more spectacular views of Mount Everest. On this trek you will not only see mountains but, also at the top of Renjo La pass, there are marvellous views of the Gokyo Lakes. The trek starts and ends at Lukla Airport, Phakding and Namche Bazaar – the classic gateways into the Everest trekking area. It also takes in Tengboche Monastery. But here is a look at what awaits you on the three passes: as well as views of the Gokyo Lakes, the view from Renjo La pass is Everest at its most spectacular.

While from Cho La pass, after a challenging and steep climb, there are fantastic views of Ama Dablam. In fact this pass is formed between the summits of Lobuche (6,135m) and Cholatse (6,443m). And then there is Kongma La pass, which takes you over a glacier and glacier-fed river to climb it’s even more challenging route. But the views from this, the highest pass at 5,535m, of Lhotse and Makula and the sparkling lakes below, makes it all worthwhile. After all this strenuous and yet exhilarating exercise, it feels good to be back in the busy market town of Namche Bazaar with its superb coffee and choice of restaurants!

  • Breathtaking views from all three high passes
  • An amazing sense of achievement
  • Standing on Kala Patthar admiring the panorama
  • Being stunned at so many mountains on view
  • Visiting Namche Bazaar and meeting Sherpa people
  • Flying in and out of one of the most interesting high altitude airports in the world
